Kantara star Rishab Shetty has criticised OTT platforms for not being open to Kannada movies. The actor was speaking at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Tuesday when he expressed disappointment with the OTT giants and argued that not accepting Kannada movies is a “very bad sign”.
Rishab Shetty: OTT Platforms Not Open To Kannada Films
“OTT platforms are not open to the Kannada film industry. That is a very bad sign. They say there are no subscribers here, they are looking into the matter and thinking. Two production houses were actively working during Corona, Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios and my Rishab Shetty films, and apart from that, some production houses were also making films, and we are actively doing film festivals, but they are not taking the films,” Rishab Shetty said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The Kantara actor further requested IFFI to help in gaining “recognition to our films”. “films which have less exposure in theatres should also get some recognition and they should be taken to OTT platforms,” he added.
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara 2 Coming Soon
Rishab Shetty is currently working on Kantara 2, which is officially titled ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. The first look of the much-awaited movie was recently revealed in which Rishab Shetty was seen soaked in blood.
Talking about Kantara 2 earlier this year, Shetty shared that what the audience was was actually part 2 and therefore what will be released next will be Kantara’s prequel. “We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of almighty Daiva the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara. What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year,” he had said.
