Jordan’s king arrives in Abu Dhabi

Amman: A student was shot inside a university in Amman, Jordan, on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of Public Safety.

According to the directorate, “a man fired several shots at a woman inside a university in the north of the capital” before fleeing.

The girl was taken to the hospital and when she arrived her condition was critical, but the directorate later confirmed that the girl had died.

Investigation has been started to identify and arrest the culprit.

The victim’s brother told Roya News that the criminal belongs to the family in Amman.

Applied Science Private University released a statement in which it expressed condolences to the student’s family and condoled his death.

The university promised that “everyone who caused this traumatic event will be prosecuted until they receive a fair retribution for their heinous crime.”

A hashtag went viral on Twitter demanding that the man who killed the student be hanged for his crime.

One user said it was “a sad day for Jordan, and there are no words to express the oppression and sadness within us for our sister who was killed in broad daylight and between university.” Another user wrote that “Arab man’s courage in killing girls is only a reflection of the fragility of the laws and his liking for it.”
