Spotify not only allows you to listen to your music by stream, but also gives an interactive experience of listening to music with your friends with features like group sessions. Spotify also lets you and your friends create a playlist with its collaborative playlist feature.
The new feature lets you “team up” with your friends to create a playlist together that each of you can edit, shuffle, and add or remove songs from. Users can also see who is contributing to the playlist and each song has the avatar of the user who has added it to the playlist.
How to Start a Spotify Companion Playlist
To start a Spotify Companion playlist on your smartphone, navigate to the Spotify library and tap Playlist. Create a new playlist here or enter an existing playlist and tap on the ‘Add User’ button. Choose to associate the playlist and share it with your friends.
On desktop, you can open Spotify and right click on the playlist in the left panel. Choose the Collaborative Playlist option and share it with your friends.
Note that only the creator of the playlist will be able to add more users to collaborate on it. Other users will only be able to interact with tracks in it.
Use with Spotify’s Group Sessions
This feature would go well with Spotify’s group sessions feature that lets you and your friends listen to songs remotely together, with one device controlling playback on all users’ devices. This way You can group sessions.
