Hailey Bieber and Pharrell Williams pay tribute as stars mourn the loss of fashion icon Virgil Abloh

Hailey Bieber, Pharrell Williams and Marc Jacobs honored late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who died on Sunday morning at the age of 41 after privately battling an “aggressive form of cancer”.

Abloh’s death was announced on Instagram on Sunday with a lengthy caption that revealed he had been battling cardiac angiosarcoma for two years.

The caption read, ‘We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a staunchly devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend. ‘He is survived by his beloved wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Gray Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Younes Abloh and many dear friends and associates.’

Hailey Bieber, who was honored by Virgil for creating her stunning wedding dress to marry husband Justin Bieber three years ago, shared a touching tribute to Abloh on Instagram.

He wrote, ‘Virgil completely changed my street style and the way I looked at fashion, the way he looked at things inspired me deeply. ‘I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am for knowing and working with her, from walking her runway to designing my wedding dress and all the other wonderful moments, I felt That he always rooted for me.

‘He was the kind of person who always brought life, charisma, love and fun to any situation, and went into every room. A once in a generation creative mind which is so rare and I will never forget its impact. We love you Virgil.’

Abloh trained as an architect and made history as Louis Vuitton’s first black artistic director.

The founder of game-changing label Off-White, a brand he created in 2012, took over the role of Kim Jones.

He got into fashion after interning at Fendi with rap superstar Kanye West in 2009, and they continue to collaborate together.
