Over several months, Bollywood as well as other regional cinemas will produce a series of sports background films. The sports drama season is starting from 83, which has already created a lot of hype. Apart from the Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer, here is a list of other sports films that will premiere in the next few months.
83 – The 1983 World Cup victory was recorded as one of the most memorable victories in India’s sporting history. The Kabir Khan directorial has already hit the theaters and fans are re-living the 1983 victory.
Lakshya – The Naga Shaurya-starrer is directed by Santosh Jagarlapudi. The film premiered on 10 December and was shot with archery in the background.
Good Luck Sakhi – This movie is based on sharpshooting.
Shabaash Mithu – The film is a biographical sports drama based on the life of Indian women’s cricket team legend Mithali Raj. Taapsee will be seen playing the lead role.
Jersey – The film is based on the life of a cricketer and will feature Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.
Ligar – This movie stars Vijay Deverakonda and is based on Boxing.
Maidan – Directed by Amit Sharma, the film will feature Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The story is based on Indian Football.
Apart from these films, there are also reports of biopics being made on Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly. Deepika Padukone may play the lead role in PV Sindhu’s biopic. Apart from this, he is also expected to work in a film based on Ram Charan’s game.
