Former police officer Pradeep Sharma applied for bail in Ambani terror case

Retired ACP Pradeep Sharma has applied for bail in the Ambani terror case saying there is no material for terrorism charges against him.

Sharma, who was arrested by the NIA in June, is lodged in Taloja Central Jail.

The plea said that the NIA’s charges against Sharma in the chargesheet are limited to his involvement in the conspiracy to murder the Thane resident.
Happy deer. It added that the NIA has no material to show that it was involved in buying or planting explosives in an SUV near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani in February.

Therefore, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act does not apply to them and they can be considered for bail, it added. The petition also states that the NIA has shown no direct role to play in proving its allegations of being part of a conspiracy where it was planned to kill the deer attached to the SUV.

On Wednesday, advocates Harshad Ponda and Chandan Shekhawat sought time to present additional grounds on Sharma’s plea seeking transfer to Thane Central Jail. He told the court that Sharma has been shifted to the ‘Anda Cell’ of the jail due to some recent incidents and should be given time to make a submission about the same.
