Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant was on Thursday named India’s Sherpa for the G20, a grouping of the world’s largest economies.
He will replace Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
The retired Kerala cadre bureaucrat, who recently resigned as the CEO of NITI Aayog, has been appointed days ahead of a meeting in Indonesia to lay the groundwork for a G-20 meeting later in the year .
India will assume the presidency of the G20 next year.
