US airlines canceled hundreds of flights due to severe weather and staff challenges disrupted the start of Memorial Day weekend travel.
As of Friday evening, more than 1,100 flights were canceled in and out of the US as well as in and out of the country, according to data-tracking service FlightAware. Around 220 were cleared on Thursday, while airlines have already canceled around 200 over the weekend.
