Minaj repeatedly insisted that Petty had been wrongfully convicted and claimed that the victim, Jennifer Hough, now 43, had planned to write a letter to a judge recounting her statements.

Huff denied the claims and filed suit against the couple, saying they tried to pay her $500,000 to retract her 1995 testimony and allegedly threatened her and her family if she refused.

The lawsuit, which was dropped from Minaj in January, seeks unspecified damages, and Petty alleges harassment, witness intimidation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Tyrone Blackburn, an attorney representing Huff, did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Neither did Minaj and Petty’s representatives.

He was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

He came back behind bars in 2006 after pleading guilty to murder in the shooting death of Lamont Robinson. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and given seven sentences before being released in 2013.

In 2019, he married Minaj and the couple moved to California. They had a child together the following year.

Federal prosecutors said Petty has been consistently informed of the need to register as a sex offender since his release from prison in 1999.

“The defendant has been completing sex offender registration documents for nearly 20 years,” prosecutors wrote in a recent filing.

‘Over the course of two decades, he was repeatedly warned that if he moved to another state, it was his responsibility to comply with any local, city, state, federal or international laws regarding registration.’
