Fake call of bomb in Delhi bound Shatabdi Express upset

Gurugram, November 24

Panic broke out on the Delhi-bound Shatabdi Express after Gurugram police received information about a bomb being planted in the train, police said on Wednesday.

“The call was received at the police control room around 9.45 pm on Tuesday,” said Sub-Inspector Ramphal, in-charge of Gurugram’s Government Railway Police (GRP) station.

The train coming from Ajmer to Delhi was stopped and all the passengers were asked to deboard.

Gurugram Police immediately swung into action and searched the train till around 11.40 pm with the help of Railway Police and Bomb Disposal Squad.

“Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were followed and after a thorough search, the call was declared a hoax,” Ramphal said.

Investigation revealed a mentally challenged person who was claiming to be calling from Delhi.

“We have traced the caller and a case has been registered against the caller under various sections. Further action will be taken against him,” the official said.

After a struggle of about two hours, the train was dispatched.
