Preface

Hello and welcome to the last game of the wonderfully one-sided series, and a chance to complete a white-ball whitewash for England. They have won five out of five so far, most of them in a canter. The score in this multi-format series is England 12-2 South Africa, with last month’s only Test match ending in a draw.

It’s not just wins that have made England such a good series. Many young players have emerged or excelled: Alice Davidson-Richards*, Emma Lamb, Issie Wong, Charlie Dean, Alice Capsi, Lauren Bell and the increasingly talented Sophia Dunkley.

Parting is such a sweet sadness for cricket fans, especially when it involves the slow break-up of a legend like the 2017 World Cup winners. But suddenly England’s future – and their prospects upcoming commonwealth games – Look very shiny.

England will be without Heather Knight tonight – she has a hip problem – so Nat Sciver will captain the team. We’ll have the rest of the team news, and toss, at 6:00,

* Yes, yes I know she is 28 years old so she is not young in terms of cricket but she has scored a century on test debut FFS! objection Overruled.
