Designated Driving Companies Provide Kelowna – Okanagan Holiday Party-goers Safe Rides Home Globalnews.ca

Alana Whitney was seriously injured when she was struck by a drunk driver and the experience changed her life.

“I slipped my C5, which is the paralyzed disc in the bottom of your neck. I was in hospital for a month and it made me rethink everything and why people drink and drive when there are other options are,” says Whitney.

He created the eponymous Driving of the Whitney.

“We just want to make sure everyone gets home safe to their loved ones,” says Whitney.

Whitney’s company has been offering partygoers a safe ride home for the past three years.

“We pick people up from bars, staff parties and Christmas parties. We drive people and their vehicles and their friends. They are very grateful,” says Whitney.

Whitney is not the only designated driving company in Kelowna. One of the other services is Girls Designated Drivers. The company says that many people in the city are not aware of how many options there are to get a risk-free home.

“We can charge you $50 or $60 and we go home. Whereas the other way around, you get in an accident, you’re dealing with tow trucks, you’re dealing with lawyers. So everyone is safe,” says Daniel Samoylov, owner and operator of Gals Designated Drivers.

Both companies say there is a growing demand for safer driving options in the Okanagan. They recommend booking in advance.
