DeMeco Ryans agrees to six-year deal to become Texans’ next head coach: report

east san francisco 49ersDefensive coordinator Demeko Ryan has reportedly agreed to a six-year deal with the Houston Texans to become their next head coach.

Texas It was only announced on Tuesday that they had a second interview with Ryan, and it was apparently a meeting that went well as the job offer went.

“We have completed additional discussions with Demeko Ryan regarding his head coaching position,” the Texans said in a statement.

ESPN reported that the deal had been reached later on Tuesday.

Because of this, the Broncos compromised and struck a deal with the New Orleans Saints to send Shawn Payton to become their next head coach in exchange for compensation.

In addition to the Broncos, Ryan canceled interviews with the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts last Saturday because he wanted to focus on the championship game.

What the Texans have been yearning for is a head coach who can provide stability at the position after having had four over the past three seasons. First, it was Bill O’Brien during the 2020 season, with Romeo Crennel taking his place as interim coach.

Then again, David Culley and Lovie Smith had one campaign each over the past two seasons.

Ryan will handle a young roster that needs to continue rebuilding since last making the playoffs in 2019.
