An application was filed with Mumbai Police on Monday seeking registration of an FIR against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for “hurting sentiments of women” through his nude pictures on social media, an official said.
The complaint application was submitted by an office-bearer of a non-governmental organization (NGO) at Chembur police station, which is also located in an east Mumbai suburb.
The officer said that the complainant said that the actor has hurt the sentiments of women and insulted their modesty with his photographs.
The complainant sought registration of a case against the actor under various sections of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.
“We received an application on Monday from a person associated with an NGO. No FIR has been registered so far. We are probing,” the official said.
