Dabo Swinney discusses why Clemson has been only school that hasn’t landed transfer via portal

Clemson University It started out ranked 9th in the country last year, but dropped to 25th after the loss to Duke.

After Week 2, the Tigers did not crack the top 25 until Week 13.

The 2023 season marked the first time since 2010 that Clemson did not win at least 10 games in a season.

The Tigers finished 9–4 after defeating Kentucky in the Gator Bowl. But they haven’t landed anyone through the portal this offseason.

(For what it’s worth, the Army, Navy and Air Force do not take transfers.)

Head coach Dabo Swinney acknowledged that “we looked at some guys,” but the feeling about the transfer should be mutual.

“Well, it wasn’t really an intentional thing. There were some people that we noticed. They might love you too,” Swinney told ACC PM on ACC Network, via USA TODAY.

Despite this, the Tigers have a solid incoming freshman class. It ranks 11th in the nation and includes two five-star players and 11 four-star players.

“We just signed a whole class of guys transferring from high school, so we like our guys. We like our starters. … We had 127 players in the spring, and 125 right now. are also on our roster post-portal,” Swinney said.

Clemson began its season against Georgia Bulldogs 31 August.
