On Wednesday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote to the states that after completion of six months or 26 weeks from the date of second dose, it has been decided to give third dose to the adult population as a precautionary measure. Currently, preventive doses are available free of cost to priority groups – frontline workers, health workers and the elderly above 60 years of age – at government immunization centres. For people aged 18-59, the precautionary dose is available only at private immunization centres.

On the second day, the number of new Covid cases in the city was less than 700. A day after registering 659 cases, the city recorded 695 cases on Wednesday. According to data shared by the health department here on Wednesday, the viral infection in Delhi reported 600 Covid-19 cases and one death, while the test positivity rate came down to 3.27 per cent. With the fresh cases and fatalities, Delhi’s COVID tally has gone up to 19,38,648 and the death toll has gone up to 26,276, the department said in a bulletin.
