Members of a women’s soccer team assaulted a referee after an apparently missed call.

Five members of the team followed the referee off the pitch, but when he reached the sideline a man appeared to run from his right. It is unknown whether the man was a coach, a fan or another bystander, but his punch missed.

On reaching the track, the referee made a hard right turn to avoid trouble, but was caught shortly afterwards.

The referee was grabbed by several team members, at least one of whom threw a punch. The man who had been chased earlier was also caught behind punching him. Another player made a jump kick as stadium workers tried to resolve the matter.

DC Motema Pembe were trailing TP Mazembe 5-1 at the time of the incident.
