Commonwealth video games: Indian girls’ cricket, athletics, squash and desk tennis groups reach Birmingham – India Times Hindi News

The India Girls Cricket, Athletics, Squash and Desk Tennis Group have reached Birmingham for the upcoming Commonwealth Video Games (CWG), which is likely to take place from 28 July to 8 August.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) had bid farewell to the Indian contingent at different airports in India. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led cricket team left for the Commonwealth Video Games from Bengaluru on 25 July.

Girls’ cricket will make its Commonwealth video games debut, with matches to be played in the T20I format at Edgbaston. Cricket will be included in the Commonwealth Games for the first time since a List A men’s match was held at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

India are in Group A along with Australia, Barbados and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand and South Africa have been placed in Group B.

India will begin their campaign against Australia at Edgbaston on July 29, followed by Pakistan (July 31) and Barbados (August 3). The top two groups from the respective swimming pools will advance to the semi-finals. India are scheduled to play three video games in the league stage of the match, starting July 29.
