Coal-based power generation capacity fell from 11 GW to 6 GW on Tuesday due to shortage of dry fuel, the power ministry said.
Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) reported that the total capacity of units under outage due to low stock of coal has come down from 11 GW on October 12 to 6 GW on October 13, the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi said the cumulative coal supply to thermal power plants crossed two million tonnes on Tuesday and the dispatch of dry fuel to the plants is being increased.
Various power plants in different parts of the country are facing fuel shortage and efforts are being made to augment the fuel supply. PTI
