Chaudhry Shujaat was under immense pressure, says Moonis Elahi

Lahore: PML-Q leader and former minister Moonis Elahi said on Saturday that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was under “extreme pressure” during the election of Punjab chief minister.

Elahi said he has requested Chaudhry Shujaat to reconsider his decision as his father, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, lost the chief ministerial election to Hamza Shahbaz on July 22.

During the press conference in Lahore, Elahi said that in conversation with Chaudhry Shujaat, he asked about the letter. Hussain replied that he had written the letter in which he had instructed “PML-Q members not to vote for anyone”.

The PML-Q leader said, “I asked Chaudhry Shujaat if he didn’t want Parvez Elahi to be the CM, he replied that he wanted him to be the CM but not for Imran Khan.”

Ilahi further added, “Chaudhary Shujaat was under immense pressure in the room due to which he requested me to forgive, so I greeted and left the room.”

He also said that neither Choudhary Shujaat nor his son Chaudhry Salik Hussain has been contacted.
