A teacher in Karnataka had called a Muslim student a terrorist in the past, after which the teacher was suspended on Monday. In this matter, the Education Minister of the BJP government of the state BC Nagesh has said that it is not a big deal to call someone a terrorist.

He said that almost all people speak words like Ravana and Shakuni on daily basis. How many times leaders talk like this in the Assembly, but it does not become an issue. Why does it become an issue when someone talks about Kasab?

On Friday, a teacher at the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka’s Udupi asked a Muslim student his name. When the student told the name, the teacher said – Hey! You are like Kasab. The student hit back at the teacher’s comment, which went viral on social media. During this, the rest of the students were shown sitting silently.

On the teacher’s comment, the student said, ’26/11 is not a thing to joke about. Being a Muslim in this country and hearing such things everyday is not a joke. You can’t make fun of my religion, that too like this. This is not a joke.

The teacher said to the student – you are like my son
When the student got angry, the teacher took charge and told him, ‘You are like my son.’ On this the student asked would you talk to your son like this? Would you also call him by the name of such a terrorist?

To this the teacher said no. So the student further said – If you cannot call your son a terrorist then how can you call me? That too in front of so many people? You are a professional, a teacher. On saying sorry to the teacher, the student said – Your sorry will neither change your thinking nor your behavior here.
