A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed by a car sheffield,
A 60-year-old woman, who was found critically injured at around 7.10 pm on Wednesday in Greenhill area of the city, died on the spot, police said.
Officers were called to a report of an assault.
South Yorkshire Police said the boy had also been arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed object.
A spokesman for the force said: “The officers attended with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, to find a 60-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries. He died a painful death on the spot.
“A 12-year-old boy was found a short time later and arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article. He remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bovell said: “This will be a very sad time for the families of those involved in this incident, and I would ask for their privacy to be respected as they seek to understand what has happened.”
According to sheffield starResidents reported that the collision was in Hemper Lane, which was reportedly closed for several hours.
The website said a property on the street remained under police guard this afternoon.
