Models at Rome Fashion Week were handed an usual accessory to walk the runway with earlier today – plastic babies.

Luxury Italian brand Muusa, founded by siblings Monica and Luca Bertini, invited those strutting down their runway to carry the dolls during their show at Altaroma 2022 at Cinecitta Studios.

Sharing a photograph of the catwalk show on Instagram after the event, the brand wrote: ‘Genderless, nomadic and warrior, Muusa’s DNA collection is focused on sustainability.

‘A sensory and stylistic journey in which art and fashion dance with ethereal lightness of precious natural yarns.’

Models donned the colorful luxury knitwear for the show in a variety of colors, including camel brown and neon yellow.

One model, who wore her brown hair in tight curls, could be seen clutching onto her doll while holding him in a black sling.

Meanwhile the plastic baby had been given an identical brown outfit for the occasion.

He appeared to be dressed in a gray beanie hat with highlighter yellow leggings.

The brand was founded in 2011 by Swiss-born artist Monica, who grew up in Umbria.

She studied communications in Milan, before launching a career as a stylist and traveling to New York and Shanghai.

After living in China for seven years, she returned to Italy in 2008 and she and Luca began working on amusic system for spas called Muusa.

Three years on, she launched Muusa Luxury Loungewear.

The website describes how ‘MUUSA is born form Art, fashion and design research in Europe, America and Asia’.

Meanwhile it continues: ‘The passion for cashmere gave birth to Muusa Luxury, innovative concepts and forms, that Monica Bertini conceived starting from the Umbria tradition, her land with the vision to merge the Asian conceptual flair with high-end Italian craftsmanship productions.

‘Luca Bertini is now operating on multimedia art projects and interactive music composition and collaborates with MUUSA for customized projects.’
