on 19th July, Sunil Kumar And Rakhi Gupta Shree Radha arrived from Mumbai hoping to spend her retired life at her flat in Sky Backyard Society in Sector 16B.
Kumar, 61, retired from the banned Bharat Petroleum Company in March. After reaching Noida Extension, he worked with a relative for 2 days in the hope that his tenant, a 35-year-old woman, would vacate the flat. “In July last year, we had given the flat on rent. We had clarified that she wanted to vacate it after 11 months,” Kumar instructed TOI. The tenant has separated from her husband and lives with her son.
Kumar sent him a text message on April 19, reminding him that the rent contract was to expire on June 10. “She replied ‘okay’. After June 20, she stopped receiving our calls or responding to messages. After a few days, she again wrote that her child was unwell,” noted the retired government.
Rakhi’s sister Mamta Varshney had gone to the flat on June 22. “There was another woman with him. Once I requested him to vacate the flat, he insulted me and requested me to move away,” Varshney said. The elderly couple also went to their fifteenth floor flat, but the tenant refused to go.
“We have now approached the police, but to no avail. We met the District Judge of Peace, who said he would send our letter to the Commissioner of Police,” Kumar said. DCP (Central Noida) Harish Chander said that they will not do anything till the court order comes.
The tenant, a property supplier, said that he was finding it difficult to get a flat on rent. The woman, who shifted from Pune in 2017, accused many people of the society of spreading rumors about her. “I would like them to apologize to me and make a video of it. Till then I can’t move from here.”
