Atlantic City casino workers to vote on possible strike

Atlantic City casino workers are voting Wednesday whether to authorize a strike for increased wages two weeks before the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Unite Here Local 54’s contracts with leading casino-hotels in Atlantic City—including MGM Resorts International borgata and Caesars Entertainment Harrah’s and Caesar’s assets- liquidated on 31 May. Organizers say the 2008 economic downturn, damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the recent pandemic and inflation have reduced workers’ wages in recent years.
