The special court on Thursday dismissed an intervention application filed by a man claiming to be a social worker, who had sought to assist the prosecution in arguing the bail plea. Aryan Khan. The 72-year-old, represented by a lawyer, argued that since the matter pertains to drug menace in the society, he should be allowed to interfere in Khan’s bail hearing.
Aryan Khan’s lawyer Anandini Fernandes opposed the plea, saying it was a publicity stunt as the court deals with several drug cases on a daily basis, in which the person has only interfered in the bail hearing. He also said that he is arguing on behalf of the Additional Solicitor General. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), therefore, it cannot be said that there is no “adequate representation” of the prosecution.
The court is scheduled to hear the bail applications of Khan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant and model Munmun Dhamecha on Thursday.
