The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation said that one of the rules the restaurant reportedly failed to comply with was to ‘make all reasonable efforts to confirm the immunization status of patrons’.

The venue was then asked to be closed from December 22 to January 3, or till health regulations are met.

Mr Madwick said he was not against COVID health regulations, but admitted he was ‘too scared’ to get the jab ‘on mental grounds’.

He explained that he needed to take several medications as part of his condition that put him at risk of blood clots and had both hips replaced.

Since Mr Madwick can no longer work in his own restaurant because of the vaccine, he is closing it because there is nothing left after forcibly closing the artichoke savings.

Mr Madwick said his customers showed him great support and Artichoke was fully booked through February, but no matter what, he couldn’t even walk in the door.

‘I can’t even go for a beer, I can’t go to the pub, can’t go to the restaurant. It has gone crazy – the government is there to help you,” he said.
