According to the DCB, the accused, 27-year-old Mohammad Sajjad Mansoori, “was part of a pre-planned conspiracy to protest against the NRC Bill and also used to attack policemen with intent to murder”.

All the accused were booked under Indian Penal Code sections for attempt to murder (307), unlawful assembly (143), rioting (147) rioting, armed with deadly weapons (148), general purpose prosecution committed by unlawful assembly Offenses (149), voluntarily causing hurt (323), voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means (326), other relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
