Amtrak train crash: Boy Scout soldiers help fellow passengers after fatal derailment in Missouri

two Boy Scouts soldiers who were on a Amtrak train to Chicago Fox News has learned that a dump truck in Missouri derailed after it collided, helped rescue fellow passengers and provided first aid.

Soon after the derailment, two groups of scouts broke windows and helped people out of train cars. He also used his advanced first aid training to help injured passengers before first aiders arrived at the crash site.

One of the scouts, a 15-year-old boy, locates the driver of the dump truck and assists the driver before he dies from his injuries.

The driver had exited his vehicle during the accident and was lying in a nearby ditch when scouts provided him with first aid and tried to stabilize him.

The 15-year-old consoled her until the driver died.

Two leaders of the group were injured during the derailment and were later taken to hospital for medical attention. His injuries included broken bones, broken ribs and a punctured lung.

One of the boys was also injured and may have to stay overnight in a hospital. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

In total, the two Boy Scout troops (Troop 73 and Troop 12) consisted of 16 boys (ages 13 to 17) and eight leaders. they were on their Appleton, Wisconsin home After an intense week long backpacking trip to New Mexico.

At least three people were killed and 50 were injured when the train derailed, officials said. The dead included two people on board the train and the dump truck driver.

Many victims were airlifted to hospitals by helicopter or by ambulance by local first responders.

Amtrak Southwest Chief Train Amtrak officials said 243 passengers and 12 crew members were on board at the time of the accident.

The incident happened a day after another Amtrak train carrying 80 people collided with a car in northern California. Officials said at least three people were killed.
