Active Covid-19 cases rise to 83,990


New Delhi, 23 June

India recorded 13,313 new coronavirus infections, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 4,33,44,958, while active cases rose to 83,990, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

The death toll rose to 5,24,941 with 38 new deaths, data updated at 8 am.

The ministry said active cases comprised 0.19 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate was recorded at 98.6 per cent.

The active caseload has registered an increase of 2,303 cases in the 24-hour period.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.03 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 2.81 percent.

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,27,36,027, while the death rate was recorded at 1.21 percent.

According to the ministry, 196.62 crore doses of Kovid vaccine have been given so far in the country under the nationwide vaccination campaign.

Among the 38 new people, 20 people from Kerala are included. Four deaths have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, three each from Delhi and Maharashtra, two each from Punjab and West Bengal and one each from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Mizoram.

A total of 5,24,941 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 1,47,892 from Maharashtra, 69,917 from Kerala, 40,113 from Karnataka, 38,026 from Tamil Nadu, 26,242 from Delhi, 23,532 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,212 from West Bengal.
