Pune: Seven year old girl girl Demonstrated presence of mind to free oneself on Monday pick up, moments after he tried to kidnap her from a spot on Bund Garden Road near Pune railway station and drag her to a nearby abandoned railway cabin. The incident happened around 12.30 pm.
Pratap Mankar, senior inspector of Bund Garden police, said, “The child was on his way home after handing over the lunchbox to his father (32), who is from Bihar and runs a tea stall near the station. Meanwhile, the kidnapper surrounded her and forcibly took her to the cabin.
“The girl sensed the trouble and told him that she wanted to relieve herself. She came out of the room and started running before the man could react. She mingled with the crowd and managed to save herself. They said.
Inspector Ashwini Satpute said, “The girl’s father approached the police with his complaint on Monday evening, after his daughter narrated the entire incident to him. We are studying the CCTV footage of the area. One clip shows the man carrying the girl with him. We are looking for a person with similar description. The man touched the girl inappropriately. We have registered a case of kidnapping and molestation against him.”
“We are leaving no stone unturned to nab the suspect as we have registered two other cases in which two young girls were picked up from the footpath near Pune railway station by unknown men and sexually assaulted,” she said.
