A section of a slab constructed over a nullah in crowded Sarveshwar Chowk of Rajkot collapsed late Sunday evening, injuring at least seven persons. The incident took place when people were visiting a Ganesh pandal set up in the square and numerous fast-food joints in the area.

A major chunk of a slab constructed over a nullah opposite Santosh Bhel, a popular fast food joint in Sarveshwar Chowk on Yagnik Road in the city, collapsed around 9 pm.
“Seven people have been injured. One woman has suffered injuries in her head. But no casualty has been reported so far,” Jaymin Thakar, chairman of the standing committee of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), said, adding, “Three of the injured have been admitted to private hospitals while the rest have been admitted to the Rajkot Civil Hospital. However, their injuries are reported to be not serious.”
Sarveshwar Chowk, located in Rajkot city, has a number of fast-food joints that remain crowded in the evenings.
