40 percent active cases in Ahmedabad: AMC examines vaccine certificate

36 new cases were reported in Gujarat on Tuesday COVID-19 About half of them—17 cases—are being reported from Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday conducted surprise checks of vaccine certificates at public places like restaurants and malls.

According to a statement issued by the civic body, 100 teams of solid waste department were deployed in seven areas of the city to check vaccine certificates at malls, hotels, restaurants and other shops. The AMC started checking in the evening and announced that it would continue till late night. Till 9:30 pm, the civic body had conducted screening activities of around 3,000 people in 44 malls, 59 hotels and 89 restaurants. Of the total 2,996 individuals tested for their vaccine certificates, 28 were found to be without vaccine.

With 131 Covid-19 patients currently undergoing treatment, Ahmedabad is facing over 40 per cent of the 300-plus active cases in the state.

Navsari recorded one death and three new cases on Tuesday. The district, which last reported the death on June 12, currently has 11 active cases.
