15-year-old subway surfer seriously injured after falling from train in Queens

CORONA, Queens (WABC) – A dangerous stunt in Queens has left a teenager in critical condition in hospital on Thursday night.

Police say a 15-year-old man fell and suffered a head injury at 111 Street station along Line 7 in Corona.

The MTA issued a statement calling metro surfing reckless and dangerous.

“Riding over a subway car is reckless, extremely dangerous and inconsistent because it causes significant delays for other New Yorkers,” said Pat Warren, MTA’s chief safety and security officer. “Looking for an adventure that promises heartache for family and friends is foolish; choose other avenues to have some fun, show respect for the people you care about.”

The teen was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police say the teenager has suffered a head injury.

No further details were released. The investigation continues.
